Finessing the Fit - About Us

Issa Squad Ting.

I had an idea one day while talking to a few friends. I spent a lot of my teenage years hiding a lot of what I loved, music and art, from my family, who really saw  education as social currency. Pop culture was traded like secret contraband and enjoyed through headphones or hidden in between textbook pages. As an adult, I was still struggling with this crisis of identity - working 9-5 and covering my laptop in band stickers and dumb memes. And there it was. How about we create a brand that represents a clash of culture?

Nikki and Amit came on with their expertise in business and design and brought the idea to life. Amit and his team at Colourblind Photography finessed the look and feel of our brand, and Nikki with her girlboss background, brought out the business planning as we launched, always keeping us on track.

Curated for culture snobs, for the artists, all artistic rebels. Dope Philistines is our love letter to all the kids who listed to their music through their headphones to keep it secret, who hid their CDs in their textbooks, and for those who see art in new ways. We made this one for you, fam.

PS. Amit has made some BANGING playlists for this launch. I can't stop listening to them, and I think you should GET INTO IT.
